RII30115 Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations

Course Overview

This course provides the skills and knowledge to work in the resources sector, in roles such as quarry production operator.  It covers general topics including work health and safety, risk management and environmental protection, as well as job-specific functions such as equipment operation and blasting. 

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification. Learners should have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to participate in training. 

Pathways

On completion, participants may undertake job roles such as production operator or leading hand, or continue into higher qualifications such as Certificate IV in Surface Extraction Operations. 

Qualification Structure

To complete the course, learners must be complete a total of 13 units of competency as follows:

  • 3 core units
  • 10 elective units

  • RIIWHS201D Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures

Selecting electives

The IQA works with a number of RTOs for the delivery of the Certificate III. The IQA (with support of the RTO) can help you determine which electives units will meet your needs and the needs of your employer. Elective units should be selected according to job-role and state-based competency requirements as there are variations between states.

In Queensland, Site Safety and Health Representatives must achieve the following competencies within 3 months of being appointed:
