Joining The Institute of Quarrying Australia

Membership of The Institute of Quarrying Australia (IQA) is open to everyone with appropriate qualifications and/or experience in, or supplying to, the surface mineral extractive and processing industries. This includes hard-rock quarrying, sand and gravel (both land-based and marine-dredged), recycling, special sands, cement, lime, gypsum, clays, coal, slate, asphalt, ready-mixed concrete and concrete products. The Institute also embraces all the professional and consultancy services which support the industry, and there is a special section reserved for those engaged in the supply of plant, equipment, materials and services.

Along with its broad industry base, the IQA membership reflects the multi-disciplinary nature of the business and all levels of specialisation. Members include geologists, surveyors, engineers, production managers, quarry and site managers, commercial and financial managers, technical and laboratory staff, landscape architects and environmental specialists, sales and service engineers, health and safety officers/inspectors, planning officers and many others in positions of responsibility.

Branch secretaries can recommend members to act as supporters of your application, and can supply information on local Institute activities.

To encourage employment diversity within our membership, the IQA is offering a $50 annual membership fee. This is only offered in conjunction with IQA Greet and Meet Operator BBQ’s being held around the country during 2018. (Operator Membership Form )

Are you engaged in the industry?

If through experience, qualifications and managerial charge, you choose to apply for a grade higher than Associate, your qualifications details (if applicable), and industry experience and responsibilities need to be sited. This information will confirm your membership grade. You can progress throughout your career, starting with the entry grade of Student, and leading to the highest grade of Fellow.

Note: All new memberships incur a one off entrance fee that is paid upon application and is non-refundable. Once payment is made via the credit card details on the form, an email will be sent to you with your tax receipt as well as your membership number.

2018-2019 REDUCED SUBSCRIPTION RATE APPLICATION

In 2018-2019, the IQA will be offering reduced subscription rates to retired members and unemployed members.

Retired members:

Current Members wishing to apply for the reduced rate on the grounds of retirement should:
(a) be permanently retired from employment or paid work
(b) sign a declaration to this effect
(c) be aged 55 years or above
(d) have completed at least 10 years membership of the Institute of Quarrying Australia

Unemployed members:

Current Members wishing to apply for the reduced rate due to unemployment should:
(a) be wholly unemployed
(b) be actively seeking work within the quarrying and related industries
(c) sign a declaration to this effect

Reduced subscription rates require an application form to be completed and sent to the IQA's Chief Executive Officer for consideration. The IQA's Chief Executive Officer is the only person who can approve a reduced subscription rate to eligible retired and unemployed members.
