Awards FAQ

Q: Do I need to be an IQA member?

A: Yes you do, for all awards, except the IQA Gold Hard Hat Award where a site can be nominated by an IQA member.


Q: Can I be employed by a supplier to the quarrying industry?

A: Yes as long as you are a member of the IQA. Any IQA member can submit an application.


Q: What is the cut-off date for submissions?

A: Generally the cut off date is the 31st August of the year of the awards. Please check this years awards information page for up to date information on this years submissions.
2019 - Awards closed 6th of August.


Q: Will I be notified of a winning submission prior to the awards presentation?

A: Yes the top three submissions will be notified and advised to attend the presentation. 


Q: What is the application criterion for each award?

A: Awards criteria are released around March each year, please check under the awards section to see if this year's criteria have been released.


Q: How do I apply?

A: Awards submissions are accepted when the awards period opens. Please check under the awards section to see if this year's submission period has opened.


Q: How can I submit an Award application?

A: You can either apply online or by email attachment to admin@quarry.com.au.


Q: Who is on the judging panel?

A: Each judging panel is made up of:

  • Young member
  • Branch executive
  • Previous winner
  • Industry expert; and a 
  • Regulator

This means that your submission will be judged by your industry peers who are able to fully appreciate your submission. 


Q: Does the judging Panel follow established criteria for judging each award?

A: Yes, each award has its own specific judging criteria.


Q: Are there examples of past winning submissions?

A: Yes please follow this link for examples of past winners for all awards.


Q: Will I receive feedback on my application in the spirit of continuous improvement if I do not win the award?

A: Yes the Chair of each judging panel will be more than happy to take any applicant through the judging procedure and result. Just contact us by email admin@quarry.com.au .


Q: What happens when/ if I win?

A: You will be presented with your prize and framed certificate at the annual conference. A framed photo of your presentation will be sent to you at a later date. 


Q: If I win an award will I be invited to present my winning application to an IQA Branch/ sub-branch event?

A: Yes, you will be contacted by your local branch to give a presentation on your winning entry.


Q: If I win will the IQA promote my win within the IQA membership?

A: Yes, your win will be featured in Quarry Magazine and at Branch functions in each state. You will also be asked to present an after dinner sessions on your submission.
