The Company
Based at Dry Creek, Hallett Resources is a wholly owned entity within the MSP Group of companies. MSP Group is an independent, South Australian owned business with a proud history of investing in South Australia. Hallett Resources is the fastest growing and most dynamic business in the South Australian Construction Materials industry and operates hard rock quarries at McLaren Vale, Kulpara and has a future development resource at Greenock. It also operates a recycling business and distribution yard at Dry Creek.

The Role
We are going through an exciting period of strong growth and we are looking for the best of the best to join our team in this new role. The successful person will report to the General Manager of Hallett Resources and will be part of the senior management team for the integrated MSP Construction Materials business. 

Ideally with strong industry and or sales experience we will provide the environment and support that allows an energetic and motivated person to fully demonstrate their potential and grow that potential to be the best they can be.

This diverse role is responsible for promoting our products and providing exceptional sales service to a broad range of customers. Whilst maintaining existing business there will be a strong focus to identify new opportunities for continuous growth and improvement.

This role requires a high level of technical knowledge, extensive planning, excellent negotiation skills, excellent communication skills both written and verbal and constant customer follow-up.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:
• Account Management Experience
• Experience in the extractives industry
• Project Management Experience
• Have the ability to forge and maintain client relationships
• Results driven with a focus managing KPI’s and sales targets
• Experience with setting budgets

Our company is a business based in Ararat. Part of a broader business group the quarry is quickly become a leading supplier of quality aggregates and crushed rocks to the broader Western districts.

An opportunity exists for a Graduate Engineer on a 6 – 12 month contract with potential for extension thereafter at our quarry based in Ararat. Your role will provide confidential, high level support to the Manager, including various project works.

 Duties & responsibilities

  • Submission of extract industry work plan variation
  • Update quarry pit extraction plan and investigation
  • Development of preventative maintenance systems
  • Assistance with new fix plant start up
  • Development of preferred supplier stock system
  • Sourcing of alternate power solutions

Skills & experience

  • Civil/ Mining Engineering qualification
  • 1 – 3 years experience
  • Autocad experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A team focussed approach
  • A commitment to being flexible and outcomes focussed, whilst maintaining a positive attitude
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Valid driver's licence, as some travel is required.

Laboratory Supervisor – Quarries and Asphalt

The Victorian Surfacing Alliance (VSA) is a leading, Australia-owned entity, constituted by three of Victoria’s most trusted independent bitumen and asphalt surfacing businesses; PRIMAL, INROADS, and CENTRE STATE ASPHALTING. 

Western Quarries is a business based in Ararat. Part of a broader business group the quarry is quickly become a leading supplier of quality aggregates and crushed rocks to the broader Western districts.

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Supervisor to join our team and provide thorough technical supervision for 2 of our businesses, Western Quarries and Centre State Asphalting.

This is an exciting opportunity to take the next step of your career with a leading company. You will predominately be based in Ararat on a more hands on role, but not limited to testing and sampling of our quarry products. Frequent travel between Carisbrook and Ararat will be required to ensure operational requirements are met.

Key duties include:

  • Hands on sampling and testing of quarry products
  • Generating reports on test results and accurate record keeping
  • Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Maintenance of laboratory in accordance with NATA accreditation requirements
  • Research & development of raw material products to ensure optimised quarry outputs
  • Develop, monitor and review inspection test plans (ITP’s)
  • Supervision of asphalt laboratory to ensure compliance and regular auditing

The successful applicants should possess the following attributes:

  • Certificate 3 or 4 in Laboratory techniques
  • Experience in quality control testing of construction materials products
  • Self motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
  • Strong understanding of NATA requirements
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • High level analysis and problem solving skills
  • Current drivers licence

The suitable candidate should have all the above in a hands on role. You must be able to work flexible hours to meet operational requirements. Weekend work will be required from time to time.
