Professional Development and Courses

Professional development is vital to support operational safety, productivity, innovation and workforce development.

Increasingly Quarry Managers and Supervisors are required to hold specific quarry manager certification and quarry manager competencies (such as a diploma or certificate). Various states require specific units of competency to be held. For example, in Queensland a Site Senior Executive managing between 6-20 employees (employed before 01/07/18) must hold:

  • RIIRIS051D Implement and Maintain Management Systems to Control Risk
  • BSBWHS501 Ensure a Safe Workplace

The IQA's Professional Development Programs (PDP) are offered face to face and online via Webinar Professional Development Programs (wPDP). The IQA’s courses cover a range of topics relevant to the industry and has partnerships in place with a number of RTOs who can deliver full qualifications or units. The IQA can provide some advice on the requirements in each state and structure of quarry manager competencies. Please note: the IQA is not a Registered Training Organisation.
