WELCOME
The Institute of Quarrying Australia (IQA) is pleased to invite you to the QLD Women In Quarrying (WIQ) 4th Annual Conference being held Thursday 19th November 2020.
The QLD WIQ Annual Conference has a long and successful history having successfully engaged hundreds of people to participate in networking/education events for the first time, provided leadership opportunities and profiled amazing career opportunities and leaders in the industry.
The IQA will continue to work with the WIQ network to look at the overall diversity of our industry, encourage younger people to engage and look at ways of promoting the wonderful career paths within the industry as a whole.
We look forward to welcoming you to the QLD WIQ 4th Annual Conference 2020.
Untapped Resources – A conference hosted by IQA Women in Quarrying
The theme, “Untapped Resources” recognises not only the diversity in our industry, but the growing need to approach workforce development in different ways as businesses continue to face a number of challenges when attracting and retaining talent.
Do you wonder about the future of our industry? How we keep up with changes in recycling and technology? You’ll find these answers and more. Our people pioneer radical R&D and left-of-centre thinking, embracing technology advancements to optimise how we do business every single day. We’ll discuss the untapped resources in our industry – our minds, new technologies, or advancements in recycled products and environmental management.
We aim to build on this success and specifically address how to harness one of the industry’s untapped resource – people.
We recognise untapped resources will be varied among quarry businesses and associated industries; it may involve:
- encouraging both men and women into non-traditional roles
- improving recruitment practices that support attracting a diverse workforce
- growing women in leadership roles, and
- recognising what skill sets will be needed in the future
We’re passionate about developing the careers and personal potential of women and men in the extractive and associated industries. The Qld WIQ Conference 2020 event provides the opportunity for career boosting learning and networking.
