The Institute of Quarrying Australia (IQA) is proud to present the Annual Women in Quarrying (WIQ) Qld Conference to be held at the Glen Hotel, Eight Mile Plains, on Thursday 26th March 2020.

Untapped Resources – A conference hosted by IQA Women in Quarrying

The IQA is proud to present the WIQ Queensland Conference 2020. The theme, “Untapped Resources” recognises the diversity in our industry, and the growing need to approach workforce development in different ways as businesses face a number of challenges when attracting and retaining talent.

Ever wonder about the future of our industry? How we keep up with changes in recycling and technology? You’ll find these answers and more. Our people pioneer radical R&D and left-of-centre thinking, embracing technology advancements to optimise how we do business every single day. We’ll discuss the untapped resources in our industry – our minds, new technologies, or advancements in recycled products and environmental management.

Through the WIQ network the IQA has successfully engaged 100s of people to participate in networking/education events for the first time, provided leadership opportunities for people to be engaged as speakers and on committees for the first time and profiled amazing career opportunities and leaders in the industry. The events in 2020 will build on this success and specifically address how to harness one of the industry’s untapped resource – people.

We’re passionate about developing the careers and personal potential of women and men in the extractive industry! The event provides the opportunity for career boosting learning and networking.

In 2020 the IQA will work with the WIQ network to look at the overall diversity of our industry, encourage younger people to engage and look at ways of promoting the wonderful career paths within the industry as a whole.

Who will attend?

The program is designed to motivate and inspire frontline staff, provide real examples and case studies for managers who want to broaden the engagement of staff, showcase achievements of leaders to inspire the next generation. WIQ welcomes men and women at all levels within the quarrying and extractive industries.
