VGT Laboratories is a NATA accredited independent, Australian-owned environmental laboratory with clients throughout NSW, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.  VGT Laboratories have been in business in the Hunter Valley, NSW since 1998, assisting the quarrying, mining and manufacturing industries with environmental compliance.

Increased demand for our services requires another suitably qualified Laboratory Technician to immediately join tour team based in Thornton, NSW.  Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, this role is a full time position working within a small team staff to perform regular laboratory work and to assist in field work at various locations throughout NSW. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking applicants who are confident and experienced in the following:

  • Working in an environmental testing laboratory conducting analysis under limited supervision in a range of classical and instrumental analysis.
  • Familiar with quality control procedures and complying with analytical methods, procedures and VGT's NATA accreditation requirements.
  • Experience with operating, calibrating, maintaining and troubleshooting analytical testing equipment including but not limited to pH/DO/EC meters, Titrators, Spectrophotometers, and Turbidity Instrumentation.
  • Working outdoors in remote locations.
  • Participating in fieldwork, including ground and surface water and ambient air sampling.
  • Ensuring safe work practices are followed at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful applicant must have:

  • Achieved at a minimum, TAFE qualifications in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent.
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Experience working in commercial laboratories.

Desirable skills:

  • Experienced 4WD skill.
  • General White Card and First Aid Certificate.
  • Be fit and active.

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and will comply with the conditions outlined in the Professional Employees Award MA000065.
