The Contractor Safety Management online webinar looks at what must be considered when engaging contractors,
including pre-qualification, onboarding, performance monitoring and review.
Why Contractor Safety Matters
A significant proportion, approximately 70% of fatalities within ASX200 companies were contractors. Results from the Health and Safety Index
also indicate that contractors tend to exhibit lower levels of health and safety performance compared to the general worker population.
While contractors may be engaged to perform specialist tasks, organisations cannot contract out their safety obligations.
Contractor safety must be managed with the same level of attention and care as employees.
Course Overview
This workshop will outline obligations, threats and opportunities when managing contractor health and safety.
Organisations often struggle to understand the right balance between:
- Compliance vs culture
- One size fits all vs a tailored approach
- How much to give vs how much to get
Contractor and supplier safety management can be complex and a burden for multiple stakeholders if not deployed effectively.
Conversely, simplifying contractor management based on risk can reduce compliance burdens, effectively engage stakeholders,
and build high-performing cultures.
Learning Objectives
- Different types of contractors
- Segmenting contractors
- Collaborating with contractors
- Measuring contractor safety performance
